Demand response in the German district heating system

Abstract The renewable energy share in supply systems is increasing for carbon neutrality. realization of neutrality can be supported by demand response (DR) strategies. This paper analyzed the DR control benefits a German district heating (DH) system. For first step, conditions, three building types were simulated IDA-ICE software with and without rule-based control. Secondly, community was established based on heat buildings. selected two different production scenarios. One scenario consisted biofuel CHP gas boilers other one included pump, an electric heater, solar thermal storage. After that, scenarios optimized HGSO tool it calculated total costs CO 2 emissions. It indicates that owners DH producers all earn from application response. maximum cost saving 4.9% owners. In scenarios, gain higher financial there are less generation emission savings 12.6% 8.6%, respectively.
